Why is Early Dental Care for Children Crucial?

We cannot underscore the importance of bringing your child in for dental checkups, and it should be done early. To the naked eye, your child might appear to have perfect teeth. However, a professional checkup can help reveal things happening in their mouth that you might not detect. A pediatric dentist can inspect the teeth and gums, including the bone, to see if there are any forms of malformations, an infection, or other concerns. When problems are caught early, it is easier to mitigate any potential danger and prevent further harm to the gums, teeth, and jawbone in the future.

Some tooth abnormalities can arise as soon as the child is one year old. If these issues are identified, it makes treatment easier. Early dental care for kids helps prevent early tooth decay. Early dental visits for kids help ease dental fear. When you begin to take your child to the dental office from their first birthday, it allows them to get used to the dental environment and adjust to seeing the dentist early on.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry suggests that parents should take their kids to the dentist by the time their first tooth comes in or when they reach one year of age. Here, they are examined and evaluated to see if they have dental concerns that need redress early on. Visit our pediatric dentist today to have any questions answered by a professional who understands kids' dental health.

Should I Get the Cavities on My Child's Baby Teeth Filled?
A child may experience tooth decay at an early age. Kids love sweets, but it doesn't mean that they have to develop tooth decay. Even as you limit their consumption of sugar, it is still crucial you take preventive measures like getting sealants and fluoride treatment at the dentist. If a child develops a cavity in their primary teeth, you should get it filled. You may think that since primary teeth will eventually fall out to pave the way for permanent teeth, you don't have to bother about any issues like cavities. However, the truth is that baby teeth are crucial for holding space for permanent teeth that are yet to erupt. They also help in biting. Any decay present can spread to attack other teeth, resulting in the loss of more teeth. Bring your child in to have their teeth checked with us.

Can Older Restorations Put You At Risk of Having Cavities?

While dental restorations like crowns, veneers, or inlays and onlays may not necessarily result in cavities, if you neglect your dental care, it is likely that you will have cavities form around those restorations. When cavities develop around fillings and crowns, they cause these restorations not to fit properly. As such, bacteria progress beneath the resin, porcelain, or metal, hence causing more damage. In some instances, poor fit of the restorations can make them rub against the tooth, further damaging your tooth enamel. Routine checkups at our dental office are important since they help catch any problems starting to develop on teeth or dental restorations.
